Fine Furniture

Fine Furniture

Often of superb workmanship combined with choice materials, well preserved examples of English and Continental furniture of the 17th, 18th & 19th centuries continue to enjoy a healthy demand. Fashions change and greater knowledge of what is ‘right’ drive prices skyward, because quality endures.

Few fields are more prone to faking than that of antique furniture. Mellors & Kirk have high standards of cataloguing, discernment and provide condition reports which enable bidders to buy with confidence. As a result, the seller reaps the reward.

This William IV mahogany library table is a rare example of ‘country house furniture’ at its best, beautifully made, large and practically impossible to source. Removed from a remote Moorlands Country House where it had been since the 19th century, it sold to a private collector for £8,000.

Fine furniture is sold in the quarterly Fine Art Sales.
