Objects De Vertu
Objets de Vertu is an enormous field which includes everything from gold snuff boxes and seals to enamels, fans, galanterie to Faberge and other Russian works of art. Silver smallwork, in particular objects such as nutmeg graters, vinaigrettes and card cases, needlework accessories, wine labels and antique medical instruments/accessories are all correctly catalogued and accompanied by several detailed images, which ensures interest from specialist collectors far and wide, who may not be able to travel to the Sale in person. This small Austro-Hungarian silver gilt and enamel singing bird box dating from the early 20th century was sold by Mellors & Kirk for £7,500.
