GRAHAM
GRAHAM, THOMAS JOHN M.D. - MODERN DOMESTIC MEDICINE; or a Popular Treatise illustrating the Character, Symptoms, Causes, Distinction, and Correct Treatment, of all the Diseases incident to the Human Frame.... London, published for the author, 1826. First edition, 8vo, full contemporary diced calf. The copy of John Scott, 1st earl of Eldon, with his booklabel and signature 'Eldon' (twice) to front endpapers. A nice copy of the scarce first edition of Graham's work which details medications and prescriptions for numerous illnesses and ailments, with a table of the dose of medicines at the rear. It was highly popular, with 11 editions being published. It is suggested that Charlotte Bronte used this work as a medical source for her novels - the Bronte Parsonage Museum owns a heavily-annotated copy of the book
Estimate: £80 - 120
