FOXE, JOHN[BOOK OF MARTYRS] ACTS AND MONUMENTS....London, Printed by Adam Islip, Foelix Kingston, and Robert Young, 1631-1632. Seventh edition, three volumes folio, volume 1 title laid down with loss, volume 2 title laid down with loss to top, volume 3 title present and complete, double-page woodcut of Windsor Castle present and complete, 4 other folding plates (all torn with loss), numerous woodcuts throughout, vol 3 with "A Continuation of the Histories of the Forrein Martyrs" bound at rear with separate title and pagination, table present at end of vol 3. Vol 1 lacks last 9 text leaves, vol 2 lacks A1 (blank), vol 3 lacks A1 (blank) + 3 text leaves (p155/6, 307/8, 461/2). Some browning and occasional soiling, several leaves with marginal or other tears (a few with slight text loss), later 18th century brown calf, with the bookplates of Sir Benjamin Stone, 19th century Conservative politician and photographer. Vol 2 features a fine three-quarter page anti-Catholic woodcut of King Henry the Eighth, triumphantly enthroned, his feet resting on the back of Pope Clement VII (3)
