A FINE AND RARE SOUTH GERMAN WALNUT CABINET, AUFSATZSCHRANK, FRANCONIA, C1750 of concave form with marquetry and penwork rocaille and festoons, the upper part with a door and arrangement of drawers including one to the pediment, the chest with square lattice trompe l'oeil parquetry top above a slide inlaid for games and three further drawers, scroll carved apron and feet, the ormolu rococo escutcheons original, 213cm h; 73 x 127cmProvenance: Private family ownership since the early 20th c and in storage for over 50 years until removed for the present sale.A very similar cabinet of the same distinctive concave form, in the Mainfrankisches Museum, Wurzburg, is illustrated Kreisel (H) Die Kunst des deutschen Mobels, 1970, B.II, fig 1094.
