CHARLES ROWE DILLON, ARIBA (D1878) PLAN AND ELEVATION OF THE ORGAN SCREEN CANTERBURY CATHEDRAL JULY 1842 signed, dated and extensively inscribed, 49 x 44cmCharles Dillon was a pupil of Harvey Lonsdale Elmes (1814-1847) and became an associate of the RIBA in Novemeber 1865, being proposed by Philip Hardwick, RA (1792-1870), Philip Charles Hardwick (1822-1892) and Frederick Pepys Cockerell (1833-1878). Dillon was Drawing Office Manager for Francis Fowke (1823-1865) and Manager of the Works Office, South Kensington Museum. He lived in Kentish Town and died in the Great Thames Disaster, the sinking of the paddle steamer 'Princess Alice' in 1878.
