A GROUP OF COALPORT TEA WARE
A GROUP OF COALPORT TEA WARE, 1800-14 various shapes and patterns including a London shape teacup in the Peace of Paris pattern, sucrier and cover 11cm h (11)One cup has an unusual scroll handle that maybe a prototype for the shape. The continuation of spiral fluting on London shapes is surprising and the shape is rare. Hybrid hard paste London cups have a 'rough' glaze on the bottom of the footrim whereas later examples are unglazed. John Rose's Peace of Paris pattern (No 419) would be topical and made between 30th May and the end of August 1814. See 2000 Appendix, p31.
