AN INSCRIBED COALPORT WHITE AND GILT JUG
AN INSCRIBED COALPORT WHITE AND GILT JUG, C1805-10 inscribed "Owner James Harwood Salop", flanked by sprays and sprigs, 17.5cm hSold with a letter from Dr Barrie Trinder to Roger Edmundson, 2nd August 1995. The Harwood family were barge builders and proprietors at The Boathouse, now the eponymous pub in New Street, Shrewsbury, overlooking the River Severn and Quarry Park. James Harwood was recorded at the Boathouse in Trade Directories of 1803 and 1813. For the shape see 1970/81, p224 on a jug dated August 1810.
