A PINXTON CREAM JUG
A PINXTON CREAM JUG, 1796-1813 painted with rural landscapes, 11cm hThis jug would appear to be of Pinxton manufacture although the shape is not catalogued by Gent (The Patterns and Shapes of the Pinxton China Factory 1796-1813, 1996). It clearly belongs with the service and although the form is similar to that made at Coalport in the case of the latter Factory the handle joins the body lower down. The paste is also unlike Coalport and although it is possible it was bought in and decorated at the factory on the balance of probability it is of Pinxton manufacture
