A VICTORIAN PAINTED WOOD DOCKYARD TRUNCHEON painted in polychrome with crown and within a garter E & W I D Co [East and West India Docks Co] 479, 46.5cm The East and West India Dock Company was created by a merger of the parent company in 1838. Throughout the 19th century it competed with the London & St Katherine Dock Co, building in 1886 the Tilbury Docks. In 1909 the company was taken over, with others, by the Port of London Authority.
