A DUTCH OR GERMAN SILVER MOUNTED ROOTWOOD SCENT BOTTLE, DATED 1749 inlaid with a bone roundel to either side, engraved under the foot with the initials JSS and date, spherical stopper, 7cm hA very similar example, dated 1758, is illustrated Launert (E), Perfume and Pomanders, 1987, fig 160.
