GERALD MAURICE BERN (1862-1945) THE P & O LINER "MEDINA" signed and dated 1917, watercolour, 24.5 x 33cmThe "Medina" was launched in 1911 and requisitioned as a royal yacht to take George V and Queen Mary to India for the Delhi Durbar. The present watercolour, painted in 1917 the year in which she was sunk by a German submarine shows the vessel in its royal colours although the ship had been repainted for commercial service on its return in 1912.
