THE SCHOOLMASTER'S LOG BOOK OF THE LONDON AND NORTH WESTERN RAILWAY COMPANY'S BOY'S SCHOOL, HIGH TOWN, CREWE, CHESHIRE, 1875 written in ink in a clear hand by several schoolmasters in succession with entries almost daily concerning such matters as attendance, the administration of the school, visitors, examinations, incidence of illness, inspections and reports, printed title, marbled endpapers, quarter calf, cover blocked in gilt LOG BOOK, brass lock (defective), lacks spine, 22.5 x 19cmThe Revised Code of Regulations of the Committee of the Privy Council on Education 1862 obliged Schools in receipt of a government grant to maintain a Log Book that was "stoutly bound" and contained at least 300 ruled pages. The first entry in the present example was made on 12 July 1875 and the last, when the book was full, on 30 January 1891
