WORLD WAR ONE. THE POSTCARDS, PHOTOGRAPHS AND MEMORABILIA OF LIEUTENANT STEPHEN GEORGE HOBDAY, DCM 3RD BATTALION CENTRAL ONTARIO REGIMENT CANADIAN INFANTRY, comprising two fine large format mounted photographs in oak frames, 80 x 67cm overall, several postcard sized and other photographs, including two late Victorian mounted half plate albumen prints of Hobday's childhood home (Bunse's Farm, Ashburnham, Sussex), a postcard in his hand signed Stephen, dated August 29 1916, three copies of the printed tribute following his death, another, similar following the death of his brother Cpl Walter James Hobday, two booklets of The History of the Active Service Battalion of the Victoria Rifles...... Canadian Expeditionary Forces 1914-15, two badges of the same, silver mounted officer's cane engraved S G H from E G D 1916 and the Memorial Scroll of Private George Henry Hobday of the Royal Sussex Regiment (23)Lieutenant S. G. Hobday was killed in action at Albert, October 8, 1916 aged 31 (Vimy Memorial).
