A PAIR OF VICTORIAN GOTHIC OAK 'HOUSE OF COMMONS' SIDE CHAIRS DESIGNED BY A W N PUGIN AND MADE BY HOLLAND & SONS, C1850 the front legs retaining the brass castors, 89cm h, stretchers stamped HOLLAND & SONS, one chair also stamped C CULYERHolland & Son's version of Pugin's standard model House of Commons chair, another example, still in the Palace of Westmister differing only in that the back legs match the front, is illustrated Atterbury (P) and C Wainwright, Pugin, 1994, fig 230a.
