THE SHIPBUILDER'S MODEL OF THE BRITISH & COMMONWEALTH SHIPPING CO LTD MV "CLAN MACGOWAN", 1962 in glazed case on light oak base with engraved bronze presentation tablet inscribed MV "CLAN MACGOWAN" LAUNCHED 14TH DECEMBER 1962 BY MRS ERNEST MARPLES WIFE OF THE MINISTER OF TRANSPORT, 98.5cm l together with a ship's bell inscribed CLAN MACGOWAN, with clapper, 14cm h (2)Provenance: Presented to Ruth Alianore, Baroness Marples (1919-2014) in 1962 thence by descent to the present vendor.The MV Clan Macgowan, a cargo vessel of 8811 tonnes and 471 foot length was built at Greenock for the Clan Line Steamers Ltd. The vessel was severely damaged whilst berthed at Bombay in 1984 and was broken up the following year.
