THE ORDER AND MEDALS OF COLONEL G R CRAWFORD, CB, INDIAN ARMY comprising The Most Honourable Order of the Bath, Companion's breast badge, India General Service Medal, two clasps, Lushai 1889-92 and Hazara 1891, India Medal, two clasps Punjab Frontier 1897-98 and Tirah 1897-98, India General Service Medal, one clasp North West Frontier 1908 and Delhi Durbar Medal 1903, LIEUT G R CRAWFORD 28TH BT INFY [CAPT G R CRAWFORD 28TH BJP INFY on India Medal, LIEUT COL G R CRAWFORD 40TH PATHANS on EVII I.G.S.] with a corresponding set of miniature medals, 40th Pathans helmet plate and cap badge and silver chains, boss and whistle, framedProvenance: The recipient thence by descent to the present vendor.Colonel George Rainier Crawford, CB (1862-1915) the son of Major Francis Haden Crawford of the 98th Regt, married Miss Katherine Maude Bladen, Superintendent of the Victorian Home for Nurses, Cheltenham in 1907. In 1914 he applied for reinstatement but, being deemed too old for active service was appointed Hon Colonel of the 10th Bn West Riding Regiment. He died on 22 August 1914 and is buried in Leckhampton churchyard.
