A HUGUENOT LINEN BI-LINGUAL SAMPLER worked by Rachel Briault MAY1768 LONDRES, with two full length figures and verses, approx 45 x 39cm, 19th c grained rosewood frameRachel Briault was born on 26 May 1760 and baptised the following month at La Patente French Huguenot Church, Spitalfields. She was the daughter of Louis Briault (1722-1795) and his wife Jeanne, nee Poupard. She married on 5 October 1793 Alexander Frederick Schell at Christchurch with St Mary & St Stephen, Spitalfields. Their daughter Louisa Schell was baptised on 13 October 1799 at the Church of St Bartholomew the Great.
