A GEORGE I WALNUT EIGHT DAY LONGCASE CLOCK, JOHN GLAZEBROOK, MANSFIELD, C1725 30cm brass dial with matted centre, date sector and subsidiary seconds dial, the chapter ring engraved Jno Glaze/brook MANSFIELD, the movement features including relatively tall plates an internal locking plate, small 'scape wheel, simple seconds and scalloped fly, in a Queen Anne style provincial burr walnut, oak and inlaid case with ogee basket topped hood and spiral pilasters, the trunk enclosed by a rectangular breakarched door with parquetry star and roundel, 206cm hJohn Glazebrook of Mansfield was one of Nottinghamshire's earliest recorded clockmakers, born in 1697. His nephew, Thomas Glazebrook, was also a clockmaker.
