A RARE SHEFFIELD PLATE CAT BY FENTON, CRESWICK & CO, C1785 39.5cm hCrosskey fig 95.A rare example of a cat (a type of trivet) in Sheffield Plate, which appears only to have been made by Fenton & Co. Thomas Smith, their London agent was supplied in November 1784 with "4 Catts with plated Balls @ 14shillings". In the early 1790s there is an entry for "1 Catt Japanned legs & plated Balls 15 inches height for Whipham £1-10-0."
