COMMONPLACE BOOKS. BRITISH INDIA, AN ALBUM OF SEVERAL HUNDRED CLIPPED SIGNATURES, CRESTS AND WATERCOLOURS, C1893-1919 including visiting cards, postal history, red cloth, stained pages loose, 17 x 23cm, the album of Florence L Hunter when a nurse at Bath War Hospital, 1917-18, with approximately 50 occasionally lengthy entries or drawings by convalescent servicemen, including an Australian, Canadian and American, a similar album of H H Fowler, 1916 in service at 37 Wimpole Street, London W (November 11th, 1918: "Armistice signed. Germans absolutely beaten. Great rejoicings at 37 Wimpole Street celebrated by a supper of tripe and champagne...") and two smaller contemporary albums (5)
