Browne, 1895 (which Browne subsequently overturned on appeal to the House of Lords, with costs), a caricature of Browne in a boat on the River Trent opposite Wilford Church, offprints of his several obituaries and other documentsIn the civic life of Victorian Nottingham Hugh Browne was, according to one of his obiturists, one of several men of his generation who were "of much more than ordinary literary power." He was the son of Michael Browne (see lots 1163 and 1164)
